Dropshipping SEO: How We Scaled a Store to $2.5 Million in 63 Days
This is the story of how we helped a dropshipping store grow from nothing to $2.5 million per month in less than 100 days. Search engine optimization (SEO) played a big part. It generated approximately $315,000 in revenue within a single month. Here's how we did it.
The Strategy
We employed a combination of SEO tactics to achieve this. It wasn't just about one thing. Everything had to work together. We focused on:
Fixing technical problems
Optimizing product pages
Creating helpful blog content
Using user-generated content (UGC) and backlinks
Syndicating press releases
Building backlinks
Technical SEO
First, we conducted a comprehensive technical SEO checkup on the website, akin to a thorough health check to ensure every aspect was functioning optimally. We resolved issues with the site's setup on Shopify, including how it handled URLs, leaving no stone unturned.
For most sites, technical SEO is not the most essential thing if you already have the basics covered. We made sure the site was easy for Google to crawl and understand. Since it was a new site, there was not much to fix. We corrected the product URLs and indexing and set up pagination for the blog and collections. We also added schema markup. After that, we focused on other things.
On-Page Optimization
Next, we worked on the product pages. This means ensuring the pages are optimized to rank for the relevant keywords. Keywords are the words people type into Google to find what they are looking for.
Although it may sound simple, it's crucial to optimize your product pages for your target keywords. Here's what we did:
Changed the URL to include the target keyword.
Added the target keyword to the product title.
Include the target keyword in the meta title (the title that shows up in search results).
Wrote a meta description with the target keyword (the short description that shows up in search results).
Added the target keyword to the image alt text (the text that describes the image).
Mentioned the target keyword a few times in the product description.
We repeated this process for the main product page. If the brand had more products, we would have done it for all the important ones.
Topical Authority
Topical authority refers to being recognized as an expert in a specific field or area of expertise. You build this by creating helpful content that demonstrates your expertise. For e-commerce, this is important because Google is more likely to rank your product pages high if it trusts your site. You build trust through content and backlinks.

If you sell skincare products, you need to write blogs about skincare issues, solutions, and product reviews. Instead of trying to cover a vast topic, focus on a smaller, more manageable area. For example, instead of "skincare," focus on "men's organic skincare." It's easier and faster to become an expert in a smaller area of expertise.
In this case, the product was so new that there were not many questions or topics to cover. We had to get creative. We examined Reddit, Quora, Google, Twitter, and Instagram to determine what people were asking. We built an FAQ page to answer these questions. We also published four blog posts a month that were related to the product. These blog posts included internal links to the product page.
Internal Linking
Internal links are links that connect different pages on your website. People often forget about these, but they are vital. Internal links pass value to your most important pages and help Google crawl your site. They are also free, and you have total control over them.
We built internal links from the blog posts to the product page and the FAQ page.
Backlink Building
Backlinks are links from other websites to your website. The more backlinks you have, the better you will rank. However, they need to be of high-quality links.
We used a few different methods to build backlinks:
UGC links: We looked for mentions of our target keyword on Reddit and Quora. Then, we created profiles and engaged with the comments and threads, adding links back to our site when it made sense.
Tiered links: We built links to the UGC links to make them even more powerful. We also built links to press releases.
Press syndication: We wrote a press release about the brand and distributed it across many networks. This got us backlinks from those sites.
PR links: We used platforms to connect with journalists and get links from high-authority websites.
Results
By employing these strategies, we helped the dropshipping store grow from $0 to $2.5 million per month in just 63 days. SEO played a significant role, generating approximately $315,000 in revenue within a month.
