Rank Higher on Google: How I Built 10,000 Backlinks

Want to get your e-commerce store to the top of Google search results? Building backlinks is key. I've built over 10,000 backlinks for my e-commerce clients in the last four years, and I've never been penalized by Google. In this post, I'll share my five-step system for building effective backlinks. These links will help you rank higher and make more money.

Why You Should Pay for Backlinks

Should you pay for backlinks? Yes, you should. I've been purchasing backlinks for over four years without incurring any penalties. Follow my five-step system, and you'll establish stronger connections than most of your competitors.

Google's link spam policies say that buying or selling links to manipulate rankings is wrong. This includes:

  • Buying links with money.

  • Trading goods or services for links.

  • Giving away products in exchange for a review with a link.

Although buying links is against Google's rules, it's safe if you follow my system. It's also much more effective than other link-building methods. Violating Google's link spam policies can result in severe penalties, including a drop in search rankings or even removal from the search engine index. My system ensures you stay within Google's guidelines, protecting your website's online visibility.

Link Building Methods That Don't Work

Many standard link-building methods yield unsatisfactory results. Here's why:

  • Link Exchanges: These are okay, but not scalable for e-commerce brands. You need similar traffic and domain rating to exchange links.

  • Broken Link Building: This isn't scalable because there are only a few broken links on your competitors' sites. Additionally, publishers may ignore you or request payment regardless.

  • Infographics: Creating infographics takes a lot of time, and few people care about them. You might get one link, but it's not worth the effort.

  • Podcast Appearances: This requires a significant amount of time for minimal reward. As a founder, focus on running your business, not spending hours listening to podcasts.

  • Creating Great Content: Writing great content is not enough. People need to see it first, which requires link building.

  • PR: Public relations can be beneficial, but it's complex and costly. You could waste money and time if you don't know what you're doing.

Paying for links is the most effective approach. It's what all the best SEO experts do.

How to Pay for Links the Right Way

With a budget of $1,000 to $1,500 each month, you can build five to ten good links. When combined with solid technical and on-page SEO, this can get you to the top of Google in many niches.

It's easy to get links by paying for them. A simple cold email that mentions you are willing to pay often works best.

Two options for paying for links:

  1. Cold Email: Reach out to website owners directly.

  2. Marketplaces: Use online link-building services.

If you use a marketplace, ask for sample links they've built for other clients. Or, ask to check the websites before they build links for you. Many services try to develop cheap links and charge you a lot. This way, they make money, but you end up with bad links.

Cold email is what my agency does. We find websites related to our clients' niches. Our first email states that we're willing to pay, which generates more replies. Then, we negotiate the price. If a website asks for too much, try to negotiate a lower price.

After building many links, I've created a list of trusted websites. I can contact these people directly and get links quickly.

Paying for links is not only effective, but it's also scalable. With the right approach, such as cold email, you can take control of your link-building strategy and see significant results.

The Five-Step QA System for Backlinks

This comprehensive system is a powerful tool in your SEO arsenal, ensuring you only pay for high-quality, effective links. Most services only check domain rating and traffic. This is like buying a house without inspecting it. These metrics are only a small part of the picture. My agency uses a five-step QA process:

  1. Open the Website: Look at the website. Ensure it's relevant to your niche and not cluttered with ads. Ask yourself if you're happy to have your website linked to it. If not, move on.

  2. Check Traffic: The website should have at least 15,000 to 20,000 visitors a month from organic search. The traffic should also be stable or rising. If traffic has dropped, Google may no longer consider the site trustworthy.

  3. Check Domain Rating: Domain Rating (DR) is a quick way to check the quality of a site. We usually don't build links from sites with a DR below 35 to 40. The exception is when the site has high traffic and is highly relevant to our client's niche.

  4. Analyze Traffic Sources: Ensure that no single page is driving the majority of the traffic. You want traffic coming from many pages. Also, check if the site ranks for relevant keywords and isn't using spam keywords.

  5. Look at the Backlink Profile: Check a few of the website's backlinks. Please ensure they're from legitimate sites and not link farms. A link farm has more outgoing links than incoming links. I usually accept a ratio of 1:1.5 (incoming to outgoing).

Choosing the Right Link Type, Page, and Anchor

You've found a good website for a backlink. Now, you need to decide:

  1. What type of link to build?

  2. Which page on your site should I link to?

  3. Which anchor text to use is a crucial decision in link building. Anchor text is the visible, clickable text in a hyperlink. It's important because it provides context to the linked page and influences its search engine ranking. Here's how to choose the correct anchor text

Type of Link:

  • Guest Post: You control the writing and anchor text. However, it takes time to write, and the page may not receive traffic.

  • Link Insertion: Faster than guest posts. The content is already written, and the page likely has existing links and traffic. Link insertions are also cheaper. However, the website might be picky about changes. I prefer link insertions because they're more affordable and faster.

Which Page to Link To:

  • Homepage

  • Blog Posts

  • Collection Pages

Don't link to product pages. Google sees these links as unnatural. Use internal links to help those pages rank higher.

Which Anchor Text to Use:

  • Branded Anchors: These are the safest. Use them for your homepage and collection pages.

  • Natural/Contextual Anchors: Use these for blog posts.

  • Exact Match Anchors: Use these sparingly, less than 5% of the time. They aren't safe.
